Going through baits tonight. Found 2 Spro frogs that have sticky "legs." Bodies and hooks still good, but the legs are messed up. Anybody got a tip on replacing the silicone?
Other question, can the silica gel packs cause these legs to get sticky? Might be all the [censored] left over from the lake since I usually throw these into the worst kind of floating [censored], but want to make sure the silica isn't causing a problem.
Thanks!

You can do a couple of things to help the legs last
Powder them when you store them. Flour will work or some type of talc
Change the legs out with a silicone rubber. I normally do this after about a year of fishing them anyway

Thanks. how do you change them? looking at the bait, i am thinking about just adding new strands and adding glue to fill the body holes. Any words of wisdom?

you can pull the old ones out - they have a knot in the middle of the skirt.
get some new skirt material. I tape one end snug to a piece of wire that I thread through the frog, then pull the skirt into place - be sure and have a knot tied in the middle.
I hope someone else has a better procedure because this is a pain to do right.
you can also replace the skirt leg with other materials - not going to tell you which but the fly tying section of your favorite catalog might give you some ideas.

BluRanger, Check out my modification. I looked in the fly section and picked a flashabou type of material. It is finer than flashabou, and looks like it will have a "breathing" effect on the water. Not sure what your secret material is, but I thought I'd share a picture. I mainly fish these in bright sunlight, so hopefully the new "legs" will cast an appealing color when sitiing in the holes of the slop. I used hemostats to thread the material from one leg to the other. The knot was big, and was the hardest part to get through the hole.
