We just got back last night. We got down last Sat. night and fished all day Sunday thru Thursday. We were supposed to fish yesterday as well but with the high winds we decided not to push our luck and came on home. We stayed at Falcon Heights. The rooms were fine, not somewhere the wife would stay but just fine for a bunch of guys on a fishing trip. The parking was kinda tight but everyone there was great and helped each other out with that. The outdoor kitchen was awesome. We cooked dinner almost every night with a bunch of other fisherman and shared fish stories. The outdoor kitchen made up for the bad parking. Now to the fishing.
Sunday, best five 23 pounds with just under six for big fish. My cousin and I are bank beaters so we were targeting fish deep in the pockets.
Monday, basically a repeat of Sunday, still beating the banks. Lost a couple giants up shallow.
Tuesday, we decided it was time to learn how to use my graphs (just bought boat) and get offshore. We had 32 pounds including two right at 8 pounds. We found a rocky point and caught five pounders until our arms hurt.
Wednesday, we started out deep again and had 31 pounds by 9:30 including an 8-4 and 7-13.
Thursday, we went deep and started trying to learn more stuff on the graph. We would find rock piles on the SI and throw a marker on them. We ended up with 30 pounds including a 9-12 and 7-8.
Our shallow fish came on texas rigged beavers and baby brush hogs. Deep fish came mostly on crankbaits and watermelon red flukes C-rigged.
The crowds were more than I expected but most everyone was courteous. We did have one guy cut between us and another boat that was about 75 yards away. We were both fishing a shallow hump and the guy ran right across it. It was covered in stumps about a foot under water. I have no idea how he didn't hit any. We did fish Mexico alot and always felt safe, even in the backs of the creeks. The coast guard was on the ramp one morning telling everyone not to go within a mile of the dam until after 11 due to training or something. Overall it was a great time. Sorry to be so long winded. I wanted to try and cover everything. I will post some pics after I get them downloaded.

Glad you had a good trip! We've stayed at the FH Motel for years, and feel at home there, and do enjoy the kitchen and talking with the other guests. BTW, parking is not a problem when the guys follow the parking pattern posted on the inside door of the rooms! Problem is when they park every which ways!

Al, the problem was there were several more boats than assigned parking spots over the weekend. My spot was in one of the holes between rooms, it was really tough to get in and out of with my big truck and a 19' boat and people parked everywhere. For any of you going to falcon I can't emphasize how much difference being able to read your graph can make. Luckily I had a couple good buddies there that showed me alot of stuff. I have alot to learn but it has already made me a more effecient fisherman.

I want to go to falcon... You know I've never been one to hold a grudge for very long so get down here to Weslaco and I'll take you over to Falcon on my dime. That is if you don't mind fishing out of a remodeled '85 Ranger.
Like me for what I am, or don't like me at all.
