Will the new Lake master maps work on a 997.
Is it enough difference to justify getting it?
Your opinions

Thanks
Charlie

If you are talking about the Lakemaster card Version-2, the answer is yes it works great on a 997. I am currently using Version-1 in the left slot and Version-2 in the right slot. There is a huge difference in the chips as far as contour lines, ponds are now marked, and they have eliminated some things such as a couple of humps that I spoke to them about that were not as shown on version-1. I now have a lot more confidence in the accuracy of the chip. The 1 foot contours are outstanding. JMHO

Doug, I assumed he was asking if the new version 2 Lakemaster chip would work in the 997. The reason that I run both versions (since I already had Ver. 1) is only to see the difference in waypoint locations in relation to both contour lines---in some situations, there is a huge difference.

I was wondering if it would run it without slowing it down greatly. From what yall say i think it will be good, going to order it.

Thanks

Actually with smaller regions and less total data on the SD Card to read the LakeMaster should read no different or maybe faster than other mapping products. On older non-current models with slower processors. All the current models have fast processors and no issues with them for these super high detailed maps!

Doug, The snapshots have been sent. You can tell by the contour lines which is Version 1 or 2.

Here's another cool feature with LakeMaster the Ability to turn on/off contour lines. Makes it easier to see the Points of Interest Data like structures bouys, road beds etc.

Has anyone used Version 1 and 2 for Falcon lake yet?

I have version 1 and was wondering if it was worth the money to buy version 2 if the only lakes I fish in Texas are Falcon, Fork and Toledo Bend but mostly Falcon.

Falcon and Toledo Bend are on Version 2...so you'll get additional coverage for 2/3 of the lakes you fish from the current Version 1.

Is their a way to check on-line to see what lakes are included in version 1?

Lakemaster web site just shows the current version.

These are the Lakes that were added for 2012 (Version 2) take them off the complete lake list and you will be close. Some where updated in details.

The easiest way is to insert you card in the unit and use the Lake List Feature and you can see all the Lakes on Your Version and then go straight to them so you can view any lake from your present location.

I did that in Simulator mode on my HB 997. Found Falcon Lake. Nothing but an outline of the lake. No depth, no contour lines, no color, NADA.

Please tell me this is due to being in Simulator mode and that there is more to see on this lake than an outline. I've already bought two Lakemaster map cards for TX/OK and hope I haven't wasted money on Ver 2 like I did on Ver 1.

Falcon is on version 2 and should be showing up. If not I would use the 4 way to make sure if not then I would call LakeMaster and they will take care of you. It suppose to be listed.

How do you find out what level the map card is set at so you can adjust to the current lake level?

Easiest way is to zoom into a contour line and match the sonar depth reading to the contour line depth reading.

Just traded for a 2011 Skeeter ZX 200 and it has a HB 788C. I'm looking for a chip mapping card for this unit. What will work? I have a Lowrance pro chip I can trade or sell. Thanks

LakeMaster or Navionics Premium/Gold are the only charts that will work.

Question, I understand it is a no-no to set a new WP when the Lakemaster card is in the machine. So, do I need to remove the card and insert the memory card to set a WP?

Unit is a HB 597 Hd DI

Thanks

That's false. Waypoints are saved to the Internal Memory of the Unit not to the SD Card. It's fine to save waypoints with a Map Card in the Unit.
