Got some gift cards for Bass Pro that I need to use up so I am looking for a jig rod in the $150 range of the rods they carry. Any advice would be appreciated.
(Search function was disabled so I couldn't use it.)

I've got a 7' heavy action Nitro that I use for jigs but they quit making them. I also have the Johnny Morris Signature in a 7' MedHeavy for t-rigs and have been very happy with it also. You can still get the Signatures and the new Carbon Lites so really either one is good. That is if you like the BPS brand.

I just purchased a St. Croix Mojo Flipping Stick 7'6 Med heavy, feels more like heavy, from BPS. I love it. Horsed in a 4.2lber saturday on a jig n pig. Felt the bite very well. 119.00. Would have paid 200.00 for it.

I too had a St. Croix Mojo but did not like it at all. The rod itself was fine but the placement of the hook eye holder caught my line A LOT and was very frustrating to use. Anyone else had this problem? It's not in the same location as the other St. Croix models.

I have an Avid series 7' and love it. Versatile, sensitive, and has a great feel. It's not super lightweight, which I like.

Try a SHIMANO CRUCIAL ROD. The others don't compare with it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I read all the consumer reviews from BP and Cabela's sites and ended up with a 7' MH Temple Fork Outfitters rod for $99. Balance fills good and all the reviews were positive. Looking forward to trying it out!

I like the medium heavy TFO 7'6" rod. They are one piece and lighter than most of the 2 piece flipping sticks.

Yes I hate hook keeper placement. I have that very same problem, but rather seldom. I love the rods, but I agree that is a major flaw on the Mojo rods.

I guess we are in the minority. I am not a fan of lighter rods either wink

I believe the Allstar SJ I and II are the best medium heavy/heavy rods out there. capt david
