ok bank fishing this year at Fork.Cold day in January not getting many bites on a jig and I cast out sit my rod down to drink some coffee and when i pick up my rod the line has start taking off to deep water. I set the hook and the fight is on. I knew she was a DD maybe in the teens. As i'm leaning down to get her she makes one finally run and rolls off the hook. The fish just layed there looking at me as if to say you had your chance buddy so long. I reach for her and she took off. I sat down and couldn't believe the size of that bass.I've caught 4 DD but this one was different. For a week all I could do was dream on how I lost a sharelunker or state record maybe. My wife thought i was crazy to be so upset over a fish. For week she told people i was suffering from depression because i lost a 10lb bass. To cheer me up one friend brought me Bill bass( the singing bass) That just put salt in the wound. But I know where she lives now maybe I'll get her this spring

I had a boatfull of kids in the boat last spring at Fork and was tossing around a chatterbait in the shallows. I felt the hit a laid back into it and had on a monster bass, perhaps even a record breaker. Some how after the fight progressed for a few minutes the fish turned from what I thought was a green color, into a scaly gold monstrous fish that weighed about 30 pounds. Landed it anyway and the kids loved it but I thought I had the state record bass and was heartbroken for a while.

Throwing a Rat-L-Trap around some bridge pilings, and a fish it's it hard. Starts taking line, finally drag it out from under the boat, and...... 23# Buffalo Fish

the one in my signature....hard to be disapppointed about an over on Fork that wins you the only tournament you've ever won but I thought for sure it would go over 10 because the girth of this thing was crazy but it "only" weighed 9.93 pounds on the JCO scales.

A 27.5in bass my dad caught years ago when i saw it flash i just new it was going to be way over 10lbs but it only weighed 7.25lbs. That fish was only about one inch across its back.

3ft needle nose during a tournament.

1 14in bass in a workingmans tournament that i almost didnt even go weigh in. Won the whole tournament big bass and big stringer.

Fished a small friendly tournament with some buddies for $10 each for big bass. I caught a nice 5+ pounder. When we were weighing them in the darn thing jumped out of my hands and hit the deck like it was a spring board and then back into the lake. Never saw my $10 again. frown

of course every bass you catch is fun. but in 1989 i caught a bass in coffee creek as a front was blowing in. it was 27-5/8" inches long and it weighed 9-6. it came halfway out of the water about 25 yds from the boat, when i saw its head i told my partner i think i got a dd but it was not to be got the fish in skinny body, blind in one eye half blind in the other , looked like it had a rough spawn.the disappoint was only because i was so close to the dd.that length on a healthy fish should of been a dd i think.
Caught my first over slot fish at Fork back when it was 14-21, just a tad over 21 and weighed 6.54. I was told it was a big male bass......Looked like a mudcat, all head.

I caught a twelve pound carp on a topwater, fishing the riprap of a dam at sundown. Thought I had the world record bass until I finally got it to come up. I couldn't have been more disappointed if you would have shot a hole in my boat!
Oh yeah, the bass' name?...bugle-mouth bass

Never had a disappointing fish. Probably had a few disappointed when they saw the sorry thing on the other end of the line.

Never caught a bass i was disappointed in. I guess i just figure that any day fishing is better than working and if you catch something then its a bonus.
