Hi Ya'll;
I'm new to the site. Hoping I can find some fishing buddies! I'm still pretty green when it comes to knowing what when, but I'd love to learn! Fishing has always been a blast to me! I live in Arlington and would be happy to meet up with anyone willing to teach me some pointers on fishing. I've been searching you Forum for about a week and man you guys seem great! Hope to meet new friends soon!

Hi & welcome to the Forum
I love to Fish!!

Right now I am into Fly Fishing
I have been at it for about 2 years now.
I am now tying my own flies, or trying to anyway.

I am a R.N. in the day time.

I enjoy any kind of fishing, I have fished all my life.

My husband & I have had every kind of boat there is, right now we are fishing the rivers out of our kayaks.

We can't fish until this summer, because my husband is recovering from a heart attack he had on Feb 27 th.

I think by May we will be at it again.
Hopefully the spawn won't be over???

Go fishin when you can & good luck!!!

Nan

glad you're here and welcome.. i love to fish.. even today after everything i experienced.. (you can read it in the post a few above yours)
nows a good time to wet a line.. spring is coming.. fish are spawning..

only thing i remember which has helped me most is this:

when the wind comes out of the north..
a fisher rarely goes forth...
when the wind comes from the south..
the bait drops in the fishes mouth...
when the wind comes from the east...
the fish bite the least...
and when the wind comes from the west..
fish bite the best...

may your reel scream...

Rosie

Rosie, I try to go over that poem for some reason when I start to the lake and see a flag blowing, I seem to only remember what it says about winds from the east. LOL

Genajenn, Welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I miss out on a couple of days and look at what all has happened around here. Great!!! I'm so glad to finally see some activity. Sharon

I remember that little saying, all I can ever remember is the east & west part. My grandfather taught it to me.
What about this one: If the cows are laying down then the fish won't bite.
Ever heard that one??
And if you see a ring around the moon at night it means it is going to rain.

Has anyone been catching fish??
We might try tomorrow after church.

Have a great Sunday.
Gena have you been fishing yet at Arlington.
I use to fish there when I was a little girl. I remember fishing off the dam with may dad, we use to catch some good sand bass & crappie. I know that lake has some good hybrids in it.

Later,
Nan

Well Ladies! I just got back from a 5 day trip to Lake Whitney with my 16 year old son, two of his buddies, my Lady fisher friend and her 16 year old daughter. We had a blast! I caught a nice sand bass and so did my friends daughter. The boys just snagged minnows on accident! What a hoot! I have pictures of their big catches! There were a few dead fish floating and sitting on the banks, but the locals said it was from the yellow alge. While I was there, one gentleman gave my son 4 huge catfish and 2 sand bass, all of which a friend of mine cleaned and took home with him since he left Monday afternoon. Then the night I caught the bass, there was a nice older gentleman that was catching keeper sand bass everytime he cast his line. When it was all said and done, he really didn't want to clean the little buggars and gave all 17 of them to me. That made 19 fish I quickly learned how to scale and clean. I feel like a pro now! I even have all the puncture marks in my hands to prove it!

As for fishing in Lake Arlington, I go there every once in a while. It's only about 1/4 mile from my house. I haven't figured out how to get over to the dam! Maybe you can show me and well fish together! I'll be around this weekend for sure! You can email me at genajenn@yahoo.com or gena.jennett@lmco.com (my work email) if you want to run over there for awhile. I get off work at 5:15 on Thur and 4:15 on Friday. Would love to meet you.
Gena
