Call Mark Marmon of Metro Anglers (713) 666-8868
He's a fly fisher guide but knows the Houston area very well. A single day of guiding by Mark will save you years of research on your own.

I live off Hwy 6 and Westheimer so how do I get to them from here? I normally hunt the small ponds and lakes in the Katy area as I live on the westside and there is one in particular that was a goldmine! But the rains did something to it and its cloudy now on top of that is in a gated community so I must stop fishing it. Gregg

Tom Bass is okay.......not much structure or grass, but it seemed kinda low last time I was there....I think the pond on I45 and BW8 is the one east of 45 on the northside of the BW.......if so......it's fenced.....

You know one aspect of fishing farm ponds and private lakes that has been forgotten? Politely asking the owners of the land if you can fish them, most of the time you will will be rewarded as long as you show ALOT of respect.
This is one aspect I learned from my dad and you ALWAYS offer something in return and leave the property as if you were never there or in better condition if possible.

take 288 south. take the first exit past beltway 8, which is McHard rd. turn right on McHard road and go maybe 1/4 mile and you will see a NICE pond on you left. Its not fenced in. I've caught some nice bass there. And if you continue on McHard rd another 1/4 mile you will see a water treatment plant on your right. turn right on the road that the treatment plant is on and go to the dead end there is a pond on the right which you cannot see fron the main road. The first pond is also very deep in the back end. I have thrown 2oz sinker way out and have counted to thirty before it hits bottom.

Reggie,
I live in Shadow Creek Ranch and have fished the larger pond you referred to. I once took a kayak out for exercise and tried to drop an anchor that had 20' of rope, it did not touch the bottom. Fishing in this pond has been real slow. I think the recent construction has done something to it.
Fishing good...work bad

I will be trying out the lakes in Missouri City tomorrow morning so I'll let everyone know what happens and which lake, if my old legs are up to the walk, holds the most potential.
