We caught fish very easily in the shallow water and grass this weekend. About 30 to 35 per boat up to 5lbs. My buddy got a 10.2 today at 10;32 am then followed it up with a 5lb'er on the next cast with a yellow magic. He said after those two in two cast he had to quit till he could settle down and get some pictures before putting the fish back. Congrats to Fred. banana web page

I am headed out there this weekend with a buddy in my new triton. I hope the bite is just as good as it was this last weekend for you. Oh by the way, that website that you posted isnt working right now..

I've heard of this lake before - where is it and how can a person gain access to it? Thanks

It is a private lake between canton and tyler. The only access is through property ownership.

FYI to all fo you who get excited about Callender Lake fishing reports posted on this forum. This is a private lake. Access is through a gate. Unless you have a gate key or are a guest of a landowner who will let you in, it would be a wasted trip. I would hate for someone to drive out there for nothing.

It's not a big enough lake to let the general public into either...it's definately a gem of a lake.

Oh yes you all are talking about my favorite lake. I miss fishing there. It looks like a do nothing lake mostly but it has lots of good sized Bass in it.

Thanks Fishmatt for that clarafaction, I assumed most who logged on this topic new that it was a Private Lake. It is a great place to fish when the bite is tough elsewhere. You can usually manage a few good bites there. I do have a place there, just don't get down as much as I need to. If anyone every gets the opportunity to get invited, you wouldn't be wasting your day.

SkeeterRob, if you have a place down there the bite has been good. I took some friends the weekend before last and when the front went through the bite got ridiculous. We caught +80 crappie and +30 bass messing around. Bass were catch and release and the crappie were released in to a deep fryer.Fish were deep and shallow. Bass fry are already swimming around my dock so the spawn is probably winding down. I am sneaking down there tomorrow if my boss will let me.

Later.

Thanks Fishmatt for the info. I'll be heading down this Saturday afternoon and staying the weekend. If your ever out on the weekend, look for a red Skeeter ZX200, stop and say Hi.

Take care

Larry, how far is Callendar from Ben Wheeler or Edom. My property is between Ben Wheeler and Van just off 773. I am on Pure Oil lake, at least that is what the locals call it. Its name is Rhines lake.
