I'm going to have to find me some good fishing ponds in the Dallas area as well. I will be moving there in August. I'm not sure how far Bowie is away from Irving, but a different post said that there is good fishing in a pond around Bowie High School.

I would guess about 15-20 miles.. it's not the miles it's the DFW traffic..

Try Nortlake college on McArthur right before the four seasons resort. There is a pond behind the baseball field. Caught up to 6lb'ers in there. Usually catch em on spinner baits and texas rigged worms and lizards.

BassFever, Bowie is probably more like 50 or 60 miles from Irving. You can try the pond behind Northlake College like Matt said. I have a friend who used to take his daughter to swim practice at the college and fished the pond, he said it was pretty good.

Hey Bassfever there are alot of good pond here in Irving to fish, i'll try and make up a list of the ones i fish, i've been keeping my mouth shut here lately, i mentioned one of the ponds i fish in Irving once and now i see 2 to 3 ppl out there all the time.
I tried a new spot tonight and in 1 1/2 hours i caught 8 up to 3 1/2 pounds all on top water running the bank in the grass.

I wasn't really sure you could fish at north lake..........someone told me that it wasn't allowed? I think I might give it a try soon.

I've fished just about every pond in Irving with the exception of Northlake College. By the time I was getting ready to cast, a cop snuck up on me and told me that fishing wasn't allowed. Not exactly sure how they plan on controlling the fish population like that, but OK.

My best experience was at the park off Conflans and Esters. Back on Friday I puller out a 16" and 14" bass within a few minutes of each other. The cafish still have a couple/few years to go though. they're getting up to about 6-7" right now. The pond is fairly new I understand. I've seen (not caught yet) gar, catfish, bass, and I think a few large goldfish. I haven't got a good view of them yet as they won't come up to the surface. Someone said they've caught carp, but I've never seen them.

I've fished with most every lure and have the best response on grubs and worms fished deep and twitched.

Hope this helps.

Has any one tried Vilbig Lake, in south Irving? It's south of Shady Grove between Story and MacArthur.
