Fluoro main line with a mono leader to absorb some of the shock and to help float the bait off the bottom. Every time I've used a braid and fluoro combo I break the leader half the time when I set tha hook.

I'm hung on that bush.

I like braid main line and use a 12-15lb Pline Premium (Copoly) as leader material. That leader has a bit of stretch and since braid is the main line I want something to stretch a little so I break off less on the hookset. Even still when you use braid it's a good idea to back the drag off a bit.

With Stained2muddy water I dont think they can see braid on a reaction strike! Braid all the way!

DO NOT use fluoro in cold (50 degree) water. It gets "brittle" and breaks off way too easy. In murky, I'd use braid all over. Clear, use mono leader.

Guys most of what everyone said makes a lot of sense and all your opinions hold a lot of weight. My question is, for clear water (California Clear) or Perky/Brady Branch Clear... for the people recommending Mono leader, would you still use Mono leader when you can see to 15+ deep in clear water? Or would you migrate to a fluoro leader in that situation? To date, I've always done 15# fluoro main line with a 10-12# fluoro leader depending on how clear it is. It works ok, but I know I don't get the 'float' effect that mono would probably provide. Looking for some feedback for clear water strategies for C-Rig. Thanks!

Less than 10 ft of water I use straight 15 lb fluoro with a Carolina keeper. Deeper than 10ft I use 50lb braid with 20lb Fluoro leader on a swivel. Use a floating bait if you want it to float. Mono does not have enough floating capability to get a hook and bait to float. Tried it many times in a swimming pool and no difference in the position of the bait between mono and fluoro lines. In clear lakes you definitely want fluoro. I might even go straight fluoro on a lake like Amistad.

I use straight fluoro pretty much all the time, most of time its 20# Sunline Sniper. I personally have not had much issue with casting, knots, etc... with the fluoro. My partner strictly uses braid with a mono leader. Never seen him catch more than me or me catch more than him to suggest that either method/set up is hands down better, but it is what we both have confidence in.

If it works for you that is all that matters.

I fish the c-rig in clear water similar to what you described and in my experiance I get the same amount of bites on both flouro and mono. On the other hand there are days where they'll want one and won't touch the other. I usually fish with 15# flouro for mainline and 12# mono leader.

Braid for main line. Strong enough to pull leader loose or break leader when hung up. No stretch for max feel and hook setting power when fishing deep.

Mono for leader - more buoyant than flouro to allow plastic bait to float better off bottom.

Almost always use 30# braid main line. Alternate between mono, & Fluoro leader. depth fished, cover, & water clarity dictate which material & weight rating the leader is.

I fish c-rig on a real heavy action rod, and use a sweeping hook-set. Very rarely break a leader on hook-set. Almost always able to break leader if it's hung bad, and retrieve my weight, ticker, bead, & swivel. Works good for me.
