Can anyone tell me how this lake fishes in early March? Fished it for the first time 3 weeks ago and found a few 3 lb fish in the Kelly Creek area but couldnt get anything bigger than that. What areas are usually good spawning areas and what areas should I stay clear of?

Man it's a tough fishery. There are some good spots west of hwy 8 up the river but giants are very few and far between. It's definatley a challenge.

There are giants in Wright Patman if you know where to fish and the water level is right. There was a 5 fish 43 lb stringer caught last Spring and numerous 30+ lb stringers caught.

The best advice is to fish shallow, very shallow. Fish on this lake are strange. If you are not stirring up mud with your trolling motor you are not fishing shallow enough.

Fish lizards and tubes.

Been a few years since I fished WP, but we whacked them a couple of years in the coves off of the Big Creek boat run, particularly the ones on the left as you head toward the creek.

I got a tournamnet there in a few weeks any recent info. I went yesterday looked as if the water had fell five foot in a matter of weeks. Did not get anything going, so any info would be greatly appreciated.
