This past weekend I changed the fuel line...new bulb and put a inline filter between bulb and motor. During takeoff on Sunday morning ran about 2 miles and shutdown just quit. no sputter nothing. No fuel in filter...primed it again ran fine at about 3k rpm...higher rpm would quit..filter empty again. On the water removed fuel filter ran fine rest of day.
So...just for grins I checked the compression on all cylinders tonight. Engine cold throttle open 90 psi on all 4 cylinders.
Seems low to me...anybody have any idea where this should be? All cylinders dead even. Thanks ahead of time.

That is not really low as the engine is low compression so that it can run the poo for fuel that we get today. Whenever you have a filter between the primer bulb and the engine, You will not see fuel in it as soon as the engine starts. Or at least the filter will not be full. The only time a filter would be full is if you had the filter between the fuel pump and the carb. Then it will stay full. 2nd thought is why did you install a second fuel filter? There is suppose to be one under the cowling between the fuel pump and the carb. By installing that filter you may have produced too much resistance which the fuel pump could not over come. That tells me the diaphram is getting weak in the fuel pump and should be replaced in the near future.

Thanks Mike I installed second filter just as a visual to know when to replace them both. Fuel pump was rebuilt last season but with gas being what it is probably replace it every year just like the water pump.
I guess I will go by and pickup new filter and pump kit install them and run it.

Update, started checking fuel lines. The fuel connector on the engine was leaking. When I move the engine it would start leaking fuel and new bulb would not hold prime. I removed the fuel connector on the motor and the fuel line and plumbed it straight to the motor. No quick connect's no more losing prime and runs great.
The 90 psi still bothers me...but it is dead even across all cylinders. I was going to decarb it, but i took a bore scope and looked in each cylinder. The ports were clean and the cylinders still have cross hatch from honing so I am just going to run it! The engine is stock never been any major wrenching done to it. Thanks

If you hav`nt already, change all of the clear oil lines. Have seen them crack or break too many times. When that happens on this motor, the motor will not get any oil and the alarm wo`nt go off untill the oil tank is almost out of oil. Too late.
