Great place for kids to catch bluegill, ok for bass. Can use a boat with trolling motor but not the gas motor, I think they have a 5hp limit. But the lake is not that big to worry about using a gas motor.

You can use any size motor but you have to idle. Its full of big bass. One of the best places to fish is the cove where you launch the boat. I called the park on Saturday and they said the ramp was not usable but it may be now since ask the rain we got.

Very pretty lake, but I didn't do so well there. Caught a limit on small cranks.

You can use your big motor, just don't go over 5mph. I've done ok throwing purple and junebug on 1/4 oz weights by the damn and just letting them fall all the way down and nearly dead sticking them.

Also in the thick grass in the small inlet just past the fishing pier on the opposite side of the lake from the ramp, same bait. Had no luck with anything else.

Of course you could take my old man and watch him throw a wally world worm on a zebco with a tiny split shot weight and have him school you all day frown hahahaha. Very pretty lake for sure.

Awesome place to fish Worked third shift for years took my Two man boat to work then on to Tyler State Park During that time I had a ball other there. At one time I too held the lake record. Then lots of my Kelly Springfield buddies learned about State park.
Dont forget to fish the swim platform, and look for the brushpiles on the South side near the dam.

good luck

There are some toads in that little lake i assure you! The right time of year the trout swimbait can land you a trophy! The guy above talking bout the swim pier knows what hes talking about!

A really good place to fish and an awesome place to just relax. There are bass all over the lake. Most of the time a have a white spinner bait with tandem willow blades, a finesse green pumpkin jig and trailer, or a watermelon red fluke. I usually have more success staying away from the crowds. The lake being only 64 acres, i think, it should not take long to figure out the hot spots.

I've fished it many times but don't have as much luck as I used to 10 years ago. I'm guessing that's because so many more people have heard about it and the fish have seen a lot more baits over the years.

It's an extremely clear lake, at least it always has been and was the last time I was there.
