How many restaurants do you go to and they actually have/serve large mouth bass from the menu? May be a reason for that?
To each is own I guess, but there are better tasting fish to put on the plate, for sure.

i have caught a few 1 1/2 to 2 pounders that you can tell by looking at them that they have the potential to be trophies

not sure about all states, but,,,

Yes, it is legal. As long as the black bass were imported and produced legally, or raised in licensed aquacultural facilities for consumption, then they may be legally sold in a live condition to markets. No live fish may leave the premises though. All must be killed at the market or restaurant

Bass would be too expensive to raise for commercial uses compared to other fish.

No idea in Texas, I hope it is though...

In many states, game or sportfish
such as bass cannot be grown and
sold as food. In other states, fish
(including bass) can be sold for
any purpose as long as they are
raised under proper permits. It is
essential that potential producers
contact their state fish and
wildlife agencies to determine the
legal requirements in their states.
The Lacey Act of 1900, the Lacey
Act amendments of 1981, and the
Black Bass Act of 1926 come into
play when fish are transported
across state lines. However, these
laws are only relevant if the fish
are illegally taken and states
have different definitions of that
term. Again, contact your local
wildlife agency regarding the
legalities of securing broodstock,
what can and cannot be sold, and
what permit is needed for transport.
Even if you satisfy your own
states requirements, when transporting
out of state you must
check the regulations of states you
cross through, as well as regulations
at your final destination.

Although they aren't my favorite, I think they taste better than white bass. There's no telling how many hundreds of bass I've killed accidently through the years because of the hook, air bladder, or just plain stress on the fish. At least the people cleaning them are actually eating them.

With a daily bag limit of five per person on most lakes in Texas, you're not going to put a dent in the population by keeping some for food.

Never seen crappie on the menu before but they still taste good smile. Maybe restaurants just don't wanna call something "crappie" on their menu's. I think most anything that's properly prepared and cooked can be good. Some folks just have differant palette's than others and like differant things.

I have eaten probably 20-30 different types of fish in my lifetime, and I have to say that bass is probably the worst! Its fishy as hell, boney as hell and is in no way considered a delicassy. So what do you do when you kill a bass? I take them home and eat them, and they taste great.

most people that eat bass is simply because they cant catch anything else(other than carp, which they probaly eat also)or are ignorant of the fact that we like em 2 grow in texas for trophys
