So, my buddy and I are planning to get out on Fayette tomorrow.

Temperatures look like they'll be in the mid 50's to start the day and warming up to the mid 60's by the time we'll be getting off the water, with the wind VERY calm out of the NNW and switching to the SE by around noon (all winds forecasted for less than 5 mph). We're limited to a jon boat (a couple of college kids), BUT hey I'm not complaining!

Any advice on general areas of the lake to fish with the type of weather/wind direction? Do you think the fish will be inactive and be holding tight to shallow cover, as I assume they were right after the front blew in? Main reason I'm asking is b/c jon boat = no sonar. It'd be easier for us to flip near the reeds and trees, but if we need to we could venture out and try running some crank baits or drop shots over by the dam. Or, if it came down to it, try to locating some form of structure in the discharge/intake areas.

Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks everyone! Really enjoy being a new member to this forum!

Had some luck lately fishing Tx. rigged worms in the trees at around 5-10 ft.
See a lot of folks fishing the reeds, but I haven't done as well there.

I had a decent day of fishing there on Saturday catching fish from 1-4 foot of water on a spiner, and throughing cranks off of the dam.

Thanks guys!! I appreciate the advice! Do you think the low wind will have any effect on location? Thanks

The better fish seem to be in deeper water by rocks. Use a shakey head, had experience myself last week and saw another report doing the same yesterday.

My brother in law was down there 3 weeks ago and tore them up on the Alabama rig. They were on the main lake fishing humps in 15-20 of water...i know that doesn't help much since you won't have sonar but you could still throw the same rig in some others areas and it may be productive. It was the 1st time he had used the A-rig and within an hour he sent me a picture of it with 2 4-5# fish hanging from it.

I went out there 2 weeks ago, it was significantly colder, caught 6 slot fish in the reeds before noon, slept through quite a few bites. Flipping a jig with a flipping stick and braid

Fished there yesterday. Had luck with wacky rig in the reeds and a white spinner when we moved back off of the reeds about 100' and worked the bait from the reeds into the deeper water. Sunday was the best day I have seen on Fayette weather wise. Water was like glass in the afternoon. Good luck.

Hey Ngrob, how was the fishing today? I'm heading there in the morning and just curious how you did.

If work was as much fun as fishing, I'd LOVE my job!

Chris,
I went out for my first every trip to Fayette Wednesday. I had a great time even though the wind was pretty tough. All I did was fish the cat-tails. It was a blast. I caught guessing 12-15 fish and lost/missed another 10 or so. I was using a 10" watermelon seed worm and a white/grey spinner bait. I fished from 8:00 to 3:00. A lot of that time was spent looking at the lake. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks. What depth of water wer you finding the best bite? Last time I was out there the reeds looked pretty brown. Were you finding more concentrations around the green/alive reeds or was it about the same?
