I'm sure this topic has came up, but since the search feature is disabled I can't look it up. Is a boga worth the price? Also, would you think the 15 or the 30 would be the one to get? I do mostly fresh/ inland saltwater fishing. Chances of me catching over a 15lb fish are slim in both applications. I like how the 15 measures in smaler incriments, but then like the fact for the same price you can get twice as much scale size.
Thanks!

I have both. Seldom ever use the 30 and yes, they are worth the money.

I have the 15lb one. Great as a scale but I also use it to grab trout and flounder since you can't lip 'em. They're very accurate too

If their the same I would get the 30lb never know what you might hook into. Could hook a big red that would max out the 15lb or even a catfish if you cared what it weighed.

That's why I would lean toward the 30lb. I surf fish occasinaly as well so the possiblity of a 30lb red is a possiblity, but then at the same time I mostly are after Trout, Slot Reds, or Bass.None of them will be over 15lbs, and if I do catch a a Trout or Bass that maxes out a 15lb Boga then heck yes! lol. They only thing that keeps me from purchasing the 30lb is the simple fact that it weighs in 1/2lb incriments. Decisions, decisions. Thanks for the replies.

I posted the same question (couldn't get a search result either) and ended up with the 15lb boga. It's very smooth and fits my needs as a basser. I like that I don't have to remember to turn it in, wait for it to reset etc. and it seems very accurate.

Correct me if wrong, but aren't the Boga grips certified by IGFA as well?
seem like great scales, from using them with friends when fishing. I plan on purchasing a set when I have a boat again.

I've read nothing but posistive reviews on them, and know that they are accurate, and can even get them certified if you feel you need to. I'm assuming the scale will stay accurate for a while? I currently have a cheap version which works fine, but it's also about 3lbs off.

I currently have a cheap version which works fine, but it's also about 3lbs off. that seems a bit contradictory. unless of course, you are referring to them working in terms of helping hold a fish and not accurately measure their weights.

Ha Touche'. In terms of weighing a fish, It grips the fish just fine, but if I'm going to use something to grip it I'm going to want an acurate weight on it as well.

So as far as longevity of the accuracy of them, does it pretty much stay accurate as long as it lasts?

Shelby,
To answer your ?? About IGFA, I called Boga Grip direct and they told me yes. They are certified for IGFA World Record status but if you caught a pending world record the IGFA would still want you to submit your scale to verify that it was still in calibration before they would certify the catch. Seemed logical to me.

I like em and decided to see how much they cost and decided I will most likely never own a set. These things are high dollar
