CR'ing and got a bite. When I was reeling in the fish up to the boat the fish slipped down about 3 feet on the line. Got it in the boat and saw that the fish had a hook on the outside of the bottom of his mouth with about two feet of line. Some how the line got wrapped around the weight and swivel. Untangled, removed, and released back to fight another day.

I was fishing for smallmouths in the central basin of Lake Erie out in 29 foot of water with a tube jig when I got a tap...set the hook and up comes this about 12 inch salamander - I called the Great Lakes fisheries folks to say I caught a baby Lake Erie Monster and they laughed and said there real common in Erie...another time I had a large freshwater clam close up on my tube jig - that was real hard to get the jig back...LOL

I was paralleling a bank with a buzzbait and had a great blue heron fly off the bank right after I made a cast. Before the buzzer hit the water the heron flew through my line. The bird got up to about 20 ft off of the water and crashed. It was all tangled up in my line. He started walking up the bank and I reeled him up. I thought he was gonna peck my eyes out when I started un-wrapping the line. I grabbed him by the beak and got him loose. He walked off looking back at me like he was pretty confused about what had taken place.

Same thing happened to me with a buzzard and comrant. The buzzard hit the water, broke off (thankfully) and swam to shore. The comrant was sitting on a broken fountain. Now that was fun (fought like a bass) until I got him to the bank then he started hissing.

c- rig, could see the fish cruisin shallow water, eased the rig to him, noses down, bites and starts to swim off, i set the hook and cant seem to turn him, get him close to boat and he is hooked in the tail. he had bitten the weight and hook was trailing as he swam off when i set hook, just got lucky i guess. then picked up small spoon and slowly bottom hopped it in shallow water and had a great day. i guess there really is something in listening to the fish.

Was reeling in a red snapper off of Florida, and a pelican dive bombed my fish, scooped it up and flew off refusing to drop the fish. Reeled it to the boat, opened up it's beak, got my snapper and the pelican just flew about 10 feet and sat in the back of the boat in the water waiting for another free meal. Also got a beaver one day on a crank bait, that was fun.
