Reports have been coming in all day of whitebass being caught by the dozens up and down all the creeks at the upper end of Lake Somerville. Like these from Cedar Creek Friday morning 2-24-12.

My son and I are going out in the morning. Any suggestions on location and lures? Don't give away too many secrets but my 14 yr. old is dying to hook up on a bunch of fish.

Can't really help on location, feeder creeks are great anywhere this time of year. White rooster tail is usually my go to bait.

Blues is correct and we are all hoping that this latest rain will bring another wave of fish up the creeks and get the lake closer to pool level... maybe sometime early this week!

I'll almost make a wager that we will be at pool level by midnight tomorrow night. Came up a foot in one day and less than a foot low now. Be glad when it settles down. Fishing has already improved so much. Headed out on Sunday. The kid and I were out a week ago and put 25 cats in the boat. They were not in one of my regular holes over by Deer Island though. Really surprised me. Had to fish deeper and around Snake Island to get them. What really surprised me was not a single bait fish in their bellies. Some had roe in them but not a single shad or minnow in the belly. This wave of warm weather should turn them on pretty good (hopefully). Good fishing and be safe.

I expect the whitebass creek fishing to peak over the next two weeks and then descend quickly like normal ending by early April. But the crappie creek fishing could be good until May and in the Yegua many fish never leave the lower end making for some good fishing all year!... That's where you will find me after all the bank fishermen head to the house!

What is the water clarity and temp? I'm looking to do a little sight fishing this weekend and I'm trying to decide which lake to hit.

Not sure....have not been out since last week. Clarity was not to bad in the shallows but not sure of the temp. Week before it was only 55 degrees

Showing to be 1.12 feet high! Amazing to think that at the beginning of the year she was 10' low!
