"If that is the case, why don't the KVD series baits already have the better hooks?"

Asked KVD himself at our sportshow last friday why they didn't put the KVD trebbles on the baits. He said mustad couldn't (or didn't want to) make enough of them to supply SK and package them up for sale at the same time. It sounded like a good explanation to me. Very personable guy by the way, and I don't recall any sales pitches unless someone asked about a product.

Lots of good info here on hooks, but should any consideration be given to upgrading the split rings at the same time?
