Just curious. I work full time and have a 15 hour college schedule which is full time. I wish I could fish and hunt ducks full time but I figger' that ain't gonna happen! I go to Paris Junior College, and I am transfering to Texas A&M university at galveston in a year to major in marine sciences. Anyone else have a similar major or job?

I go to SFA and am majoring in Ag Development. My hometown is Lufkin and I could not bear to leave Rayburn/Toledo so I picked to stay home and go to SFA which turned out to be a great school.

My son will be a freshman at A&M in Galveston this fall majoring in marine sciences, and has already lined up a friend with a bayboat. Why does dad feel like I may be buying fishbait instead of books?

I work a full-time schedule for SBC Communications and also go to school full-time (15 hours) at the University of Phoenix Online. I doo all of my school work from the comfort of my computer room. The only negative is not having any tests. Because of no tests, I must write at least 3 research papers a week.

PS that doesn't mean I don't find time for Golf, and Fishing.

I can definitely say I know how you feel bassomatic. Although I am finished with college now, I was working full time (around 55 hr per week) and going to school at night, plus I had the family to take care of. It's a real juggling act sometimes but it will be well worth it when you are finished. Don't get discouraged. When college is over, you can devote more time to the great outdoors.

its not that bad, im prolly the young-yun of this forum. what you really need to focus on is getting your time set out. if you have morning classes and work evning you still have time. study when between classes and early in the morning and right after the class, after that you have most everything set out and done. if you work weekends your screwed! 'less night fishing is your thing!

Which area do you work in and how much service do you have? I work in I&R in Round Rock. Been there 6 years. Grew up in a Bell family. Used to be a very family oriented company before competition in telco set in. Still a decent place to earn a living.

I'm a jazz performace major at UT austin.
I'm taking 19 hours . town lake is only 5 min away, so there are lots of days when i just fish for 30 minutes.

Well I was a Cable Splicer for 2 years and was surplused. Now I am a CAD Technician in the Engineering department in Ft. Worth. I have 3.5 years service. Just biding my time until I can get back outside.

jat,
Where do you fish on Town Lake? I am also a UT Austin student and always looking for new spots to fish.

I like to fish down by fiesta gardens. From southbound 35 exit at town lake and go under the bridge. keep going past the soccer fields till you get to the boat ramp at the end of the street. There is a cove opposite the boat ramp. I caught an 8 pound bass the other day. I suggest that you practice catch and release because there used to be a consumption ban for town lake. The fishing is usually not great, but I get to relax. I have a couple of spots I like to fish at that are near austin. Shoot me an email if you want to know about them.

hey everybody, this is mainly for the two guys getting ready to start at A&M Galveston. I did my first semester in college there back in 96 then switched to a different school because my career goals changed. Its a good school though if you want to get into marine research of any kind. anyhow, I'm writing because I will be looking for fishing partners down in Galveston for the coming year. I will be starting Physician Assistant School at UTMB in June, and plan to fish any time I get the chance. I will have a kayak, and I have a few spots down there, but I hope to learn a lot more. shoot me an e-mail or leave a post in the saltwater wade fishing forum and maybe we can catch a few sometime.

I sure would like to get a job as a deckhand on a charter rig. I have been offshore fishing three times out of port A and the three captains that we had all said that I was good deckhand material. It looks exciting, and I always have loved the ocean. It'll be fall 2004 when I get there, because right now I am not financially obligated to changing my current schedule. I can't wait, its gonna be a blast!

I will definitely practice catch and release. Besides the fact that I hate cleaning fish, I don't think my roomates would be too happy about me leaving fish parts laying around the apartment.
