First of all To the Texas Fishing Forum! Glad to have you on board. As far as Rio Fishing in Houston just about any body of water in the Houston area should have plenty of Rios since they are a warm water fish. You may have a hard time finding em since it is winter and even though we have had a mild winter the cooler weather has em in deeper water and scattered.Late Spring,Summer and Fall should be super good Rio months. The ones we are catching here in the San Antonio area are in a warm spring fed river. As for Houston area lakes I am sure someone will be responding to your question who is from that area. Good luck and give us a report on how you do.

Only place I know of and have caught them in the Houston area is Mason Creek in Katy. Also caught one in a neighborhood pond lol, someone must've put it there. Never heard of em being caught anywhere else in the Houston area.

If I was going to take someone to catch some rios, I'd also go to Mason Creek. Although they've also been caught in Lake Houston, I think they are more prevalent on the west side of Houston.

I fish a couple of neighborhood ponds in NW Harris Cty. and I catch some small Oscars and Tilapias w/ alot of bluegills, greens and channel cats. No Rios.
