I would go side imaging. You can save up another $400 for the Hydrowave quicker than the grand for a side imaging unit.

Side Imaging! Hadn't heard that SI technology is now available at the value price of the HydroWave. Please tell me more!

tru but does the h wave work? Yep but the side imaging is way more useful. Like stated you can save up for the hydrowave easier, those two are not comparable in price.

side imaging i would say is more proven, and wil always help you in finding areas with structure and cover. which should produce more fish. hydrowave is suppose to stir up baitfish, and make the fish wanna eat. but hell half the fun of locating fish is tricking them into eating a lure just my thoughts.

SI hands down. Much more useful in finding fish and cover for that day of fishing and marking that spot for future trips.

I have both, but if I had to have one, SI no doubt, but I would be sad losing the HW. that little booger works.

I have SI and HW and I agree SI is the best if you can only have one. But HW does work. As for screen size the bigger the better. The detail on the large screen is worth the money.

TR, they're not even comparable, no offense to the folks at HW. While I am currently between boats, I have a HW and have had SI on two boats since the technology became available.
SI is the most useful tool we, as bass fishermen, have available today. I'm speaking in terms of defining and eliminating water quickly.
Competitive fishing (aside from 1st, biggest and most for $3) is not what keeps me captivated by the sport. If it were, there would be no question as to which I would choose first.
SI is a necessary evil. The HydroWave is a tool of choice.
The HW device WILL help you catch an extra fish or two, perhaps many more. You can't catch them if you can't find them, though.
