in the comunity ponds, they had a list of some "fishable ponds"? ive been to 4 of them (forgot the names) and was told by the locals that there arent fish in there, never have been, and they are just there to boost aura. someone please tell me one has some fish? i think millers pond and live oak lake MIGHT have something but, im very doubtful.

Elmendorf
Miller's Pond

Let me get this straight....You go to a pond that the Texas Parks and Wildlife lists as a Community Fishing Hole and that they themselves stock with fish. A few locals tell you "There ain't no fish in there", and you leave. Then you come back here and post that TP&W lies. ??????

Ya think maybe the locals lied to ya to keep the little honey holes to themselves?

If it was that easy to keep fishing holes secretive, we'd all have a lake of our own! Sometimes many people overlook the most obvious places because...well...they're just too obvious. Some huge fish can be caught right in town because everyone just ASSUMES "they ain't no fish in there!"

nope no one fishes there, visted the 3 ones in downtown 3 times, in area near st. mary's college. not a soul with a line, not even kids. BUT, they do have people running around them or playing baseball near. and as i mean locals, i mean many, if no one believes me, go ASK another san antonian to go check it out. lots of people hang around there, no one fishes it. BTW, i did sit and look at the lakes to see ripples of the fish eating bugs or swimming. saw nothing cept skimmer bugs. AND the water is dirtier than braunig, and there is lots of trash in there in the shoreline.

Supposedly Elmendorf has bass, sunfish, and catfish (carp too no doubt) and Woodlawn has catfish/carp (saw a pic in the paper awhile back with some guy un-hooking a little kitty out of Woodlawn).

This is based on a friend who has lived here for many years...I myself had done some looking around, being relatively new here, and wondered about those same bodies of water.

I work online, from home, so I'm actually free whenever I want to

I'll probably be going out of town this weekend though.

I am car-less, but could probably get a lift...was thinking about hitting Braunig this week, possibly.

Never been out there and have wanted to try.

OMG! braunig is great right now for light flyfishing on the perch! when do you feel like going? bass prolly like the nice warm water, and the weeds are starting to grow again... but reds... they are never closer to the shore than 50 feet...

Hmm, no fly rod right now (left in Oregon ) but I wouldn't mind trying my luck for some bass/cats.

I was thinking either Wed/Thur but not sure...I just realized my tackle box was left in Laredo, so I'll have to scrape something up at Academy.
