Back in the '60s, there were some gravel pits lined with willows on the southside of Grapevine that my dad and I fished a lot. It may be a development now. But, I can't remember which cove they were in. Anybody familiar with Grapevine that can tell me where they were?

Yeah, but if I were to tell you where to go on here....I'd have to kill everybody that read the post grin

And no, it hasn't been developed.

Looks like I may have struck a sensitive chord. Actually, the info wasn't for me. I was trying to help out the gentleman from Duncanville who wants some area places to go fishing from his tube. I recommended Joe Pool but thought Grapevine would be a good back-up. Hope someone will give him some other alternatives.

I live on Palestine and don't need any other places to go. In fact I haven't jerked a crappie lip anywhere else in the last 10 years. However, with the comments so far, I may just have to drive all the way back to Grapevine, find my old place from 50 years ago and get my licks in.

I only bass fish when on Grapevine, so I'll leave the crappie there alone...and actually, the bass are probably safe too.

The only old gravel pits I know of are where Marshall creek comes into the lake on the upper end. If that's the place you are referring to it's really good during the spawn and then they move out to structure after the spawn. I hope this helps since everyone else is tight lipped.

Understood, Hookem. I really took the comments that way. And, thanks for the offer. Same goes if you ever want to fish Palestine. I won't even make you put on the blindfold!
