I am traveling to Tokyo Japan and then over to Singapore. I would like some input as to what to purchase on these trips that would prove to have a significant cost savings by making the purchase over there. Products and location information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your input...

Japan = very expensive. Not sure that anything is cheaper, even the stuff manufactured there.
Take plenty of $.

+1 Good luck finding anything cheap in Japan. A 30 dollar dinner in the US will cost you 150 dollars in Tokyo. Japan = very expensive. Not sure that anything is cheaper, even the stuff manufactured there.
Take plenty of $.

I was there last year and the average price per lure was about $20. One of the crankbaits I bought was $30... Had some cool looking plastics too... Be prepared to spend some cash! I think the tackle shop I went to was called Popeye.

I picked up some"split rings" in Singapore that I liked..they actually look like a figure 8..top half is single wire for line tie, the bottom half is the split ring with a little lip that makes it easy to slip the bait on..wish I had bought more...makes it easy to swap baits and not have to retie..

Call Cameron at Lake Fork Marina 903-765-2764 and see if he can help you with a few ideas from Takahiro Omori. Tak's getting ready for the Classic next week but is a gracious gentleman. If he's not able to help due to time constraints, call Yamamoto Custom Baits or Kinami and see if someone can help you. Good luck!

I was there last spring for a week (the week before the earthquake). Take plenty of money. I spent about a 100 bucks a day on meals and taxis. Good thing it was a business trip! A first class ticket was about $10K back then. Business class a little less.

If you're flying into Nartia and make in town go to the Noodle Shop on Green Street and have the Red Chili Noodle Soup with a side of Gyoza. It will make the Sapporo Beer go down nicely.

Sounds like you need to load up on some cheap stuff at academy and open up a flea market if stuff is really that high.
Oh, and watch out for Godzilla!

Red Chile Noodle Soup sounds good to me I would look for Mega Bass Baits like vision 110s after eating Japanese raviolis,.. gyoza.

In Tokyo, go to Sansui, Tokyo Sunrise and Popeye. Also check out TackleBerry -- used tackle in good condition at good prices.
Try to focus on brands that are harder to find in the US -- Evergreen, Imakatsu, OSP
