Good post. Not to hi jack your thread, but it's ok for Fork to get shut down in Feb when a nasty cold front comes in, but when it happens on Lake Lewisville (and the lake come up almost 7ft in two days) with the pros, the lake is deemed a POS...

A healthy dose of reality is always humbling, when unrealistic expectations have manifested themselves due to unsubstantiated claims.
Regardless of time of year, any lake can humble any fisherman, and even on Fork, 10 lb fish are rare for each individual.

thumbYes Sir! noideaAnd how many times have you guides out there heard this? Your client says I dont care if I only catch one fish as long as it's my Personal Best, nothing like putting extra pressure on the guide. Then just a few hours later they say a 2 pounder would be nice right about now... rolfmao

I'm heading to Fork on Friday, I'm a sucker for the humility that it normally brings me.

Jeff,
That's just how fishing goes. Fishing Fork can be a very humbling experience, even for those who fish it regularly. I know you are disappointed about your trip but I like how you said I learned a lesson in tempered expectations, this I will not forget. Im a hard headed optimist and have trouble tempering my expectations at times too. Im also a type A personality (Control Freak) and have to continually remind myself that God is truly in control and there are things like the weather, seasonal patterns, fishing pressure, moon phases, and so on and so on, that I cant control. Fork this time of year for me can be feast or famine. You definitely had the cards in your favor, fishing with Pack. Hopefully, you can build on what you learned and have a more productive trip next time. I wish we could have met you when you came up here. On your next trip up, for sure give me a call and Pake and I will come have a burger with you.

"Lowlights:

1) Not getting my Dad his first DD,
2) Nor my brother,
3) Nor myself "

Fairly lofty goals fella!

Be strong my brotha, its fishing...There have been times I have considered taking up golf and I suck!!!

I do know how you feel...I went to Camelot Bell, which has been referred to on here as; the promise land, the give-me hole, the aquarium, high fence fishing, blah blah blah! And I didnt TOUCH A FISH that day! It happens, but as Perry said, it's what draws us all back to the game, the hunt!!!

Our time is coming...Its like poking a snake, sooner or later your gonna get bit!!!

Hang in there,

Recomendation to your expectation bud. Fork is great, but it sounds like you need a trip to Falcon. If you have 3 or 4 days to spare, its well worth the trip. Good luck.

We all stumble and make mistakes. When you stumble, do you want your brother to help knock you down or to help set you back on your feet?
