You'll do good with that one. Seems to me, catfish don't look at the price you paid for a rod and reel, they look at what's on the hook. You will land some nice cats with that one. Good luck and you have a great wife there! you know i was thinking about it... in my last 5 trips my po' boy special $10 spinning combo has out fished every other rod I have at least 5 to 1. It is the one getting hit more often. Fortuneatly none of them have been monsters and my few big fish that I've caught lately have come on my either my pflueger reels or my PA reels.

Nice outfit! Congrats! (what's the brand on those crushed out ciggy butts in the ashtray? ...just curious!) Gambler roll yer on ones had to take the reel back the bareings were bad it was hard reeling in a 13 inch catfish last night

That is a good setup. i had a couple, i ended up selling it because i just like bait casters. probably a little heavy for channel cats though. Optix 40 on a tourney choice spinning rod would work good though.
