Dflipper is probably right. He ain't lying about his merc. Just came out shop for same issue and another buddies 09 did the exact same thing. You know it chance. Bet a cold beer its a coil prob. Wish I had all the time back with my boat that it has spent in the shop since I've owned it. If this is the first time this has happened to it since you owned it square you are one of the lucky ones. But man when that xs is running right it sure is hard to beat

I have been lucky, only second time in shop not of my doing. First was to replace the fuel lines now this.

I have the same motor and had the same issues. It was in the shop and fixed three times. Finally a Mercury rep from the factory was visiting the dealer. They spent four hours trying to make the boat run right on the water. Finally they replaced the entire top end and the complete computer. Sorry I don't know the technical term but it sounds like the exact same thing. My motor had about 60 hours on it when this occurred. Good Luck! Yes I'm thinking ECM like my major problem. That little jewel is $10k. So don't like replacing them. They will try everything before they go that route. If they do it's cheaper and easier for Mercury to send a new dressed power head.

Dropped it off this morning, spoke to the mechanic and explained what's occuring, first thing out of his mouth was coil. He said if that's it, Merc says replace all six. Will know for sure later. Thanks for all the info, what a knowledge base on TFF, now can anybody tell me how to catch fish

good news is the new coils are from a different vendor and there has been zero issues with the new coils

That's good square! They need to. There is a bad prob. With them. Glad it worked out for you. Nobody took my beer bet so I guess i'll have to buy my own. I been fighting coils since about 3 months after I bought my boat. Good luck buddy!
