I dont know about the same stump but when the water is colder it seems that fish like to stack up alot more than when it is warmer outside... especially in deeper water...

Yes it is. Especially this time of year when a front blows in the fish will back out a little and hold tight to cover. I like finding that magical stump when conditions are tough.

We was on Fork today. He put a whooping on me. I caught first fish off it and he boated 2 more off it within minutes. Kinda gave us some laughs for the day

Last year in a night tourney I caught them off of one stump. It seemed like after I caught 2 or 3 off that stump they would quit and I would wait. Go back and hit it again and new fish had moved in on the stump. I guess it was a good ambush point for them and they were chomping at the bit to get on that stump. That's good y'all got them to eat when the water temp was 48.

that's classic fork prespawn post front action. those fish that were up shallow thinking naughty thoughts when the water was in the high fifty's earlier this week pull out to the closest wood in the channels they came in on and if one piece of wood is more dynamic than others (in a channel bend, more branches, right on the break) they get stacked heavy. they don't want to go to far from the naughty grounds. first warming trend after they will be right back shallow. good on ya for braving elements and what can be a tough bite.

no it's not common. It's not common to even catch a bass in 48 degree water for me.

Sounds like that was a text book move up or ambush spot for migrating fish, those spots need multiple casts and a come back to later. How many times have we all caught a good fish and moved on with the next cast? Passing a wad of fish, sounds like a sweet spot different from the area around it.
