I have noticed that when tying a palomar knot on some straight worm hooks I have really got to pinch the line to get through the small eye. I have not had any issues with the P-line floro using the pal knot. You don't have ti pinch the line. Run line through eye, then back through. I tie palomar on everything. Using Invisx, I have NEVER broken a fish off.

I had lots of problems with my line breaking at the knot when I first started using flouro, back then I was only using the palomar knot. I've switched two things and I can't remember the last time I snapped off. 1. I went to the San Diego Jam knot. I don't know if it's the specific knot, but I think it has more to do with a "wrap" style knot vs a knot like the palomer. Now, after much practice, I can tie that knot WAY faster than the palomar. 2. I changed my hook set a little. Flouro sinks so usually there is less line between you and the fish than with mono. Instead of a eye crossing hook set I used to use its more of an elongated sweep that seems to work best for me.

I have used all brands of floro with the same results of breaking line. I have wet the [censored] out of the line tied different knots with same results. Went back to mono and not a problem since.

have been using a homer's circle knot since i found out about it on berkley knot wars. it's really simple and performs well with all line types, is a bit tough to cinch it down on braid properly. but i have yet to break the knot even if i am hung and break off intentionally.

Unlike mono and similar to braid, fluorocabon will continue to "tighten" itself when you apply pressure such as a hookset. It is so stiff that it will cut through itself within the knot. All of the knots mentioned in this thread are good. The palomar will work, but is more prone to failure because the doubled line that are overlapped in the knot cut themselves under pressure. SD Jam, double uni, even a clinch work better simply because the knot is stacked up the line with loops and are essentially slip knots. The stacking distributes the load better reducing the risk of breaking. Just what I have come by over the years. Good luck.

Another knot that is reported to work well with flourocarbon as well as braid is the Berkley Braid knot. Tests have shown it to have great knot breaking strength and seems pretty easy to tie. http://www.justsportfishing.com/berkley_braid_knot.htmlWhen flourocarbon crosses over itself it's prone to cut itself as others have mentioned.

Cinch it with the tag end very slowly, fluorocarbon has a tendency to heat up and burn itself while you're pulling it tight, so make sure and wet it as you already do, and cinch with the tag end very slowly, and then pull tight on the main line.

I dont use the palomar after breaking off too many fish on the hooksets with florocarbon lines.I tried this knot where you go thru the eye 3 times and then twist it 5 times and back thro the loop and cinch it down, works for me-idk what its called.

I use the palomar with flouro also and have never broken off. Im a pretty big guy and i set the hook as hard as i can when im jig fishing with no problems. As im cinching down the knot I have the knot in my mouth to make sure its plenty wet.

Ive had trouble with palomar and fluorocarbon. I've tried tightening the knot underwater, same trouble. I just don't like that stuff, went back to mono. Like braid for some applications.

I was having this same issue until i made one small change to how I was tying the knot and literally have not had this happen in over a year+ and all I use is Seaguar Invisix. All I changed was I now make sure I pull the tag end all the down FIRST when tightening the knot down then the main line. This took all of the knot tying stress off the main line and I don't break off on hook sets anymore.
