Being 16 means quite a bit when you're driving a 70+ mph performance bass rig in a 170 boat tournament, on a big, cold body of water in 20 mph winds - with a coangler who paid earned money to fish with a 'pro'. Fishing has nothing to do with it. The kid is not a 'pro', he is a high school kid.

Vanwho- No again it doesn't mean anything it means he had the Kahones to fish it and you didn't. It means he's 16 he paid his entry fee he has the boat and equipment to compete. 16 means nothing

Half the field aren't really pros. Its a Open not a Elite.

Ya I have to agree the "kid" is a good stick. If I remember correctly he fished a media individual championship on Cedar Creek couple of years ago and missed 1st by less than a pound. A lake that he had never seen before the official practice days. Put a whipping on alot of local anglers. I believe he was only 14 then!!! I also think he was angler of the year in his division tha he qualified in. Seems like there are alot of haters that wish they were in his shoes to me!!!

No. Hating on my part. I just asked how he ended up with a negative weight. After all, he was the only "PRO" with a negative weight.

How much too short was his fish?If were talking a 20th of an inch or so to short then I could see it being just an accident.

Those borderline fish can be tough. My experience is if you use a livewell additive that relaxes them they will stretch out to longer than when first caught. On the other hand a rough ride to weigh in seems to make them tense up and measure shorter. Those borderline fish always make me nervous. I was about to release a borderline fish on fork during Mcdonalds until my partner talked me out of it. Sure enough, it ended up winning me $1,000 but I was sure nervous when the GW's were turning him every which way checking him. I can see where a mistake can happen on a border line fish.

It means he's 16 he paid his entry fee he has the boat and equipment to compete. 16 means nothing No it means his parents paid his entry and put him in a boat. Be real here. I'm not saying the kid can't fish, it appears that he can. But he doesn't belong in a pro format event like this in my opinion. And I'm with Crankenstein on this, if he was my boater I would ask to be re-assigned. I don't care how nice, polite, and 'mature' he is for 16, he's still a kid. As for your other comment-I have no interest in fishing the Open schedule, balls have nothing to do with it. I have my priorities right where they need to be.

Oh well, I was just wondering about the negative weight. Thanks for clearing it up.

Gambling on Lew in Feb. is like just like walking into a nightclub and throwing $1250 in the air and "making it rain". Not cool.

So you're lacking the same balls that you just accused the other guy of lacking for not fishing it? Kind of hypocritical don't you think?
