Chuy's. Can't see why it's popular.

I don't understand the Outback bashing here. There just aren't that many places around where you can get a decent steak, properly prepared. If the prices don't sit well with you, that really has nothing to do with whether they are "overrated."

I removed Outback from my Steakhouse list last time. It's gone more the direction of a Chili's. You can get a fair steak there at best. Way better places to get a steak at the same price.

I used to brag on the Big Fisherman near Rockport but I just ate there last week and it was bad. Portions were half the size you normally get and the whole place smelled like cats. Plus, no coleslaw, what's up with that?

I kept hearing about The Big Fisherman in Rockport and ate there a couple of years ago. One of the worst eating experiences I have had in recent years. We also had heard good things about Charlotte Plummers. I thought it was just about as bad as The Big Fisherman. There are good places to eat in Rockport, but The Big Fisherman and Charlotte Plummers are not them.
We did have good food at The Boiling Pot, Cheryl's, and Lattitude 2802.

I finally made it to the Boiling Pot in Rockport last summer and was flabbergasted at how bad it was. The shrimp and sausage were badly overcooked/rubbery - the blue crab was so small it was hardly worth cleaning - even the corn had spent too long in the boiling pot. The only thing on the table that wasn't overcooked were the new potatoes... To make it even worse I had bragged to my 6 friends about how great this place was supposed to be. About the only good thing I can say is that the servers were cute/friendly and the beer was ice cold - I know every restaurant can have a bad day and maybe that was the case, but I won't be in a big hurry to give the Boiling Pot another shot after our fiasco of a meal.

Uncle Julios, Dallas.
We went there last week and the waiter asked, have you been here before? I said yes, about 3 years ago. It hasn't improved any.
What I can't understand, the place is packed. The salsa is terrible, the service is average, and they use the same shredded chicken in every thing. When you pay for a meal, it should at least be better then what you can make at home. I would never use shredded chicken. And I absolutely hate heated nonhot salsa. Hot sauce should be hot, not thermally hot. Mild [censored] heated up.
I don't plan on seeing if it has improved another three years down the road. +1

Taste is taste and everybodys is different but a lot of you Joe T. haters probably ordered fajitas or something else other than the Family style dinner. if you did therein is the problem. They have been in business since 1935, stay loaded with customers year round, have zero freezers, four kitchens, and employee some 120 people. I dont think we're going to phase them. One final observation...is there any restaurant in Texas that we haven't mentioned in this thread?.....LOL
