I'm trying to head down this Saturday to fish.

What tides are best to fish?

Thanks!

Incoming tide, surf side of pass. Stop in at Aunt Nancy's Bait Camp and get the reports. She has a FB page that has a lot of good info too!

I think if is the incoming tide, at Rollover Pass is better to fish on the bay side IMO.

Jean is right if you're looking for the big 3 (reds, speck and flounder). They're ambush feeders and just assume wait in the pass as bait is brought to them. Tide going out, go to Gulf side. Tide coming in, go to bay side. This is if you're working a pass. I just sit in marshes all day.

The only thing dumber than a fish is a fisherman.

@Bad Luck Guy,

I agree with you,but if you look to catch flounder is better bay side on outgoing tide and for specks on outgoing tide is better Gulf side.

Ok, when you say "surf side"....would I want to be all the way up, essentially on the beach? Inversely, "bay side", do I want to be out by the flats?

Or, does being there by the road do the trick?

Thanks for the answers, I'm a newbie to all of this.....

Depends on your method of fishing .
If your bottom fishing your gonna lose lots of tackle in the pass .
There's a lot less debris out next to the bay & less crowded .

I have fishing on the bank at Rollover Pass 99% with jigs and i was catching very nice fish.
I can't wade for medical reason, but if you know to fish you can catch many fish on the chanel, and i never fish with natural bait.

Another news from ROLLOVER PASS :

Nice Catch !
Ricky Tribble of Winnie fished a rootbeer twister tail to nab this 30 inch, 10.3 lb speckled sea-trout at Rollover Pass on Thursday.

Rollover Pass Report

Ed Snyder reported that specks and flounder were the items hitting Friday at Rollover Pass. Using soft plastics and slow retrieves he managed to catch a nice keeper flounder but lost a larger flounder as well as a HUGE speck.
