Those are both fine vises. The Renzetti costs more but that's gonna be a personal decision.

If you've got it narrowed down to two vises, your best bet is to put your hands on each vise and decide which one you are most comfortable with. These vises are very similar in features, but they "feel" very different when tying on them. Some people like one better than the other.

My opinion, the Renzetti has the better "fit and finish", but the pedistal (however you spell it) base is too light for my taste. I like a heavier and therefore more stable base. The Peak has a heavy base that is very stable. However, if you plan to travel with it, the lighter base would be more convienent.

They are both good vises and they both have loyal supporters. I looked at both of them very seriously, but I found a different vise in the bargain cave that I have been very happy with.

You would really be better off if you can put your hands on each vise and tye a fly on it, and then deciding which one you like best. Neither of these vises are inexpensive, so you want to make sure you are comfortable with the one you get.

Good luck!

The jaws on the Renzetti are advertised to hold a wider range of hook sizes. The Peak has different size jaws that you can buy, but they are very expensive.

The Peak is a heavier and larger vise which might make it nicer for a stationary desk vise. It is also cheaper than the Renzetti.

Peak. I have one and we sell more Peaks than any other vice over $100. Danvice is OK...there have been some knocks about how well they hold up, but we've not had any problems.

We have a number of the Peak accessories also...
