I just started using braid last spring and noticed pretty quick that the line looses its color and turns more of a white color. What are you doing if anything to put the color back in the line or does it matter? I think I may try some finger daubers from a crafts store and dye it with Spike-It watermelon.

Your putting to much thought in it. It is fine, just watch for fraying in the line. To answer your question, some people use markers to color it.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

You can ignore it. Or unspool it and respool it backwards. Some brands of braid loose color much quicker than others. Suffix retains color well while Power Pro doesn't. for example.

I use a black sharpie for the last 8-10 feet as well. Works well for me.

The colors added to superlines are just a coating. The material itself cannot be tinted/colored. Every color will fade or dissapate over time. Some just hold the color longer than others--it's call quality.
If you want the best line color for the fish to see, use black. It doesn't blend in with any of the water colors or vegetation. Works well at night though.

I dipped the end of my line in a bottle of dipping dye and it stayed longer than the original dye did. I was thinking that the dye may help cover your scent on the line and leave a smell trail in the water resulting in more bites. May use a syringe and dye stripes across the line to make it camo.

I use yellow superline and even that is tough for me to see in some lighting conditions. I put unscented red softbait lure dye across the spool in about a 1" strip so I get the alternate colors that are easy to see in all lighting conditions.
The lure dye fades very quickly.

I do my baitcasters and spinning reels the same way:

Ignore it or use a Flourocarbon leader. I use a leader and have had good success with it.
