is there any reason not to use braided line for cat fishing? Um, well I guess not. Maybe price? Or no stretch on hook sets?

biggest reason some wont use braid is if they fish rocks primarily or cant get used to the no stretch factor rocks can sometimes more less eat up that braid
fish to live and live to fish

I cannot imagine a reason not to use braid for catfish. I have nto fished it in rocks, but heavy timber and have no problem with it. The price is not that expensive, mono I have to change out about every year due to hot cold hot cold making the line brittle and not hold 8# fish good after that, but braid I use it minimum two years and sometimes three years, before I turn it around on the reel and use the other end, so to me it is cheaper. When you hang up mono in timber, the stretch is so bad(setting the hook too) that you can hardly get far enough in the boat to break it off, where as braid with mono leader, you get hung 90% of the time you only break a leader and lose a hook, not hook, sinker, cork, and swivel. I am a braid man To be more specific, I am a Power Pro man

most fisherman go with what is comfortable for them. The new braids are quality lines. Personally, I like the sufix 832- fantastic casting supple line. have no problems hooking the cats Go with what you are comfortable with.

I have some OLD fishing line, it looks like shoe string... I was thinking of soaking the whole line in chicken liver juice, maybe the smell will stick in the old string and could be a good way to get the fish to follow your line down to the hook.

I use mono but am tempted to try that Suffix 832. I busted off two ling last year on 65lb power pro in saltwater. 3rd hookup was on 30lb mono and won the day on that fish. All of my power pro went into the trash at Port A that afternoon.

All of my power pro went into the trash at Port A that afternoon. That is what a shock leader and drag is for Bob LOL. All the mono did was "give some strecth" when the ling burst. I use my 65lb Team Catfish braid and Power Pro down there and have landed several fish in the 300lb (shark) range. Good drag, alot of line and a ProAngler rod......Great combo!
