I will be coming to Falcon from Atlanta.
Would it be better for me to go on st rout 59 from Houston down to Zapata, or keep on I10 to San antonio over to I 35 and down?

I second that. Stay on the Interstate while you can. I-10 to I-35. Then pickup 83 South in Laredo. Good luck

I've driven both ways from Houston. Taking Hwy 59 is significantly shorter than going to San Antonio. The only downside is having to slow down going through a few towns.

I would take 59 route. It's not a bad drive at all. Just my .02

I've been both ways and, while the 59 route down 16 to Zapata is shorter, it takes longer due to all the small towns, oilfield and ranch traffic.

From Houston, I-10 to San Antonio. Loop 410 South in San Antonio to I-35 South. I 35 south to the north side of Laredo. Bob Bullock Loop (Loop 20) around the east side of Laredo to HWY 83 South. 83 S to Zapata.

It's not the shortest but it is the fastest and easiest route.

I live in Sugar Land and go 59 to 16 and I think it takes right at 5.5 hours.

Out of Houston, 59 to 16 is the way to go. I went to Falcon in Dec. and took I-10 to S.A then 35 to Laredo on the way down and it took almost 7.5 hrs.- mainly due to congestion around Laredo.
Talked to several guys there (including Bill Wilcox) who said the only way they go is 16 to 59.
Tried it and it took less than 6 hrs. to get back to Houston.

I've done both from Houston and 59 to 16 was an hour faster for me. Of course we leave Houston around 3a.m. to miss Houston traffic

I like 59 to 16. No chance at bad traffic once outside Houston.
