My TM seems like it has gotten sluggish lately. The TM & battery (12V) are both only a little over a year old. I have to have it on 4 before I can move anywhere and 5 (highest setting)I think should pull it around better. I checked my battery & it is registering 12.7 volts on the batter & 12.6 at the plug. Any suggestions? This is a MinnKota All-Terrain 40# thurst pulling a 17 Monark aluminum boat.

Heve you cleaned your wire lead connections lately? Even tough you can read 12vts at the T/M Connector... If there is corrosion on the T/M wire leads ...it causes resistance to current flow making your batteries work harder.

If the T/M wire terminals are clean You either have a bad cell in one of your batteries or the T/M Brushes / Armature are going bad.

Take the propeller off & see if it's got any fishing line or weeds on the shaft.

Never knew a battery with a bad cell good read 12.7 volts - but a hydrometer will tell you (few bucks at auto parts store). Have you checked the water in your battery lately?

Yeah, I checked the water & it was fine. I wish I could gain a little weight, so no, weight not a factor...5'9, 155#. Now my tackle bag keeps getting heavier! I may just switch batteries as it is an Everstart, but it is a deep cycle.

I was just saying that it is a deep cycle battery in case someone was going to as the question, not that it makes a difference. Yes I checked the shaft & no problems there.
