This for anyone who might own a carolina skiff or one that has any knowledge about boats. I went to the San Antonio boat show recently and saw a carolina skiff J16. Does anybody know about these boats? It looked like it would be good for the bays and flats at the coast. I almost gave in and bought it, but thought I would check with someone with experience first. Any information is greatly appreciated, thanks.

its a good boat.if your gonna spenp time in the bays you might wanna think about gettin something with a v hull.the flat bottoms have a rough wet ride.it'll work great in the flats but if the wind is up it can limmit your possablities.my fishing buddy has a 17 ft carolina skiff semi v and i think if he had it to do over he would get somthing with a v hull.the flat bottom ride in any rough water can be an @ss whippin.

I have a skiff and they are difficult to turn and very rough riding.
They have tons of fishable space on the front and rear platform.
If you fish in the backbays or in the intercostal it might be worth it. If your planning on being in some rough water or even semi-rough water that boat will make your teeth chatter!

Although I recently sold my motor boat, I'm getting the itch again. I'm leaning towards the Bay/Bass boats. I like the layout and I rarely used the seats when bass fishing, so I do not think I'll miss them. First of all I'd like to say is thanks for the responses. Secondly, CATFISH........... it doesn't respond well? Now is that in windy weather or what? I've heard these flat bottoms are real bad waterslappers, but are they that bad even on calm days? I was just wanting something for the bays and flats.
