I've never had a problem with the palomar. Wet the line and don't jerk it tight, use even, steady pressure.

I have been using the Palomar and have no problems. Just make sure that you wet the knot and make it "flip" over when you pull it tight. AND DEFINITELY DO NOT PULL THE TWO ENDS APART to tighten!

Improved clinch knot or double improved clinch. I use the double improved clinch on heavier lines, 17-25lb fluoro, and the regular for smaller lines.
You know the old saying
If it floats, flys, or f___s it is always cheaper to rent!
You have to decide which is more important.

Palomar, SanDiego Jam, and the double (Alton Jones) knot. I don't know if the double knot I tie has a name but Alton Jones ties a knot on Youtube that is similar to the SanDiego Jam knot. I use that knot with a double line. Very strong knot.

Double improved clinch... Cinch it down very slowly and slober a bucket of spit on it.. Gross, but works great...
