Went to The Creek this morning for a little prefishing for a tourney. Left Cedar Creek Landing an was running up the lake at about 5800 rpm when the motor lost power, started knocking and quit. It will turn over, knocks and will not run. This is a Evinrude 200 Vindicator, '97 model I believe, partners boat. Is there anyone out there that would recommend a good mechanic to take a look at this and tell him whether it is worth repairing or not. This is the second major failure on this unit in six years.

You're a bit far east, but Mike Sitz at Sandy Creek Marina in Breckenridge is the best OMC tech I've run across!

I don't know exactly where you are but you might try Service Marine in Emory (Lake Fork). Chuck does great work at a fair price

I heard recently that Lynns became the Bombardier,(OMC), dealer in the area. Don't know if it's true or not and haven't ever done business with them. If you don't mind the drive, take it to Rockwall Marine.

My partner called Lynns Marine this morning and ask them what it would cost to tear this motor down and find out if it is salvagable. The price was $45, I was shocked, figured it would be higher than that. Thanks for the posts on this. Lynns was closer than the rest so he tried them first.
