I'm new to this forum, but it seems pretty informative so I figured I'd ask...

I'm looking to go camping with a few buddies. I'm in the DFW area and willing to drive out 2 hours for a good tent camping/banking spot. I've only fished Lake Lewisville and Grapevine. WHICH LAKE SHOULD I HEAD TO????

Monticello has great bank fishing for catfish in the winter

Ray Roberts or Richland Chambers are both within 2 hours and have tent camping spots available I believe.

Lots of places to fish and camp on Lake Tawakoni, Dension Dam and Lake Texoma.

Thanks for the responses. Ray Roberts sounds like a winner to me. I'll be sure to post some pictures if I get any good keepers!

If you camp at Isle Dubois on Ray Roberts they have a fishing pier. Good fishing at night.

Looks like I'm heading to Ray Roberts on Friday. I'm thinking about going to that fishing pier, but are there any other recommended spots at that lake?

Bridgeport's Wise County Park has good camping and decent fishing.

So I'm back from the trip and somewhat disappointed. Ray Roberts was nice, camping was great minus the hike to the camp site. It took multiple trips getting everything to the site.

However, the worst part of the trip was the weather. Man... 15-20mph all night friday, all day and night saturday made fishing on the pier a challenge. I would see boats launch and come back after an hour because of the wind =/.Ended up catching a single, barely legal catfish. My fish finder saw fish, but ZERO crappie/bass bites on jigs/minnows.

All and all it was a good experience. I'll have to go back out there if the weather permits

HOPE THAT SPAWN COMES EARLY THIS YEAR
