Anyone have any any opinions of these rods? What would you use a 7'4" MH cranking rod for?

I have a 7'10 for deep stuff, I do like it a lot. Best cranking I've owned.

Throw a DD-22 all day and you will love that rod, My back hurts after throwing it all day but if I go to My TD Cranking rod that is shorter for shallow running cranks there is no way I could stay out all day. Sunday I threw a Deep baby N for 7 hours on that long rod and was okay if I threw it on the short one there is no way I could hang. Decent day 8 blacks one small mouth all cranking.

If ain't hangin up you ain't fishing

I love both of mine an it has allowed me to have more confidence in throwing crankbaits.

Bought 7' 10" last year. Pair it with a revo winch and you can throw dd 22's and deep xd's all day. Never thought I would say this but it actually makes deep water cranking rather "enjoyable" for someone who absolutely despised it for years. Highly recommended. Just make sure you get the right reel. Makes all the difference in the world when you have the right equipment for the task.

Best cranking rod I've ever picked up. Like it better than my Doybins and lamiglass rods I've owned. 7'4" will cast a red eye or square bill in open water a mile and rips grass amazing. 7'10" for any medium or deep diving crank bait.

Thanks guys, I saw these rods at walmart and the price was like $20 less than normal. They have a limited selection and a 7'4" was one of them. A little concerned bout dropping that, much on a WM rod. I've seen so many broken rods out there it makes me wonder about how the rods are treated during transport, during stocking, and while on the rack.

agreed. that is the exact setup FootAndAHalf has, and has let me throw on occasion when we've been out crankin. Fantastic tools for the task of diggin into a hump in 15+ foot of water.

If Wal Mart has em for $139, that's exactly 20 bucks less than I paid for mine at BPS last year. Not a bad deal at all. Dont know how Wally world is with rod returns if something happens to it though. I do know BPS will replace it no questions for up to 2 years??? if you purchase the insurance for about 10 to 15 bucks on a 150 dollar rod.

I can assure that Wal-mart distribution employees do not care at all about the product they are receiving, shipping, or stocking and that goes for grocery as well wink.. wash your produce.

I have 7'10" and paired it with an older Shimano Bantam real with 5:3 gear ratio. It is a killer rod that is really easy to throw and launch the bait. I like the longer rod. Be careful with it, they are a little less than a tough rod. I handle mine with a little more care than the others.
