Thanks to all that gave advice on a suitable oil for my Yamaha HPDI. Next question is this, and hopefully its not a stupid one. I just would hate to make a $2000 mistake. My oil tank is half full of Yamalube 2M. I just bought Quicksilver Premium Plus because its almost half the price and easier to find. Will it hurt anything to top off my tank with the Quicksilver or should I not mix the two different oil brands?

I wouldn't worry about it but just to be safe I'd carry a couple jugs around with me till the remote tank was low and then fill it up.

Let the oil tank run down as low as possible then fill it up, should be fine.

Carry the jug with you in the boat. Run the tank with the Yamalube as low as you can or all the way until empty. Then just dump the Quicksilver in and you should be good to go.

As Long as you use the tcw3 oils the engine does not know the diff. I have mixed Penzoil with Quicksilver.

Run it as low as possible then add. If you hear the low oil buzz you will know.

I don't mix oils as a general rule, it might not hurt anything but I guy a lot smarter than me, a hp outboard builder that worked for yamaha and merc once said it was a bad idea, every oil has different additives, but with that being said it try not to change brands either. Been useing penz 100% syn for years in several different boat.
