My ten year old bass boat, has been sitting without a cover, since Feb...I noticed some oxidation so I purchased some Meguiars Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover. I applied it by hand and removed with terry cloth...
I noticed when I wash the boat, it really shines with water on it...but as soon as
I dry it off, it has a white haze, including white pits all over it...if I put water on a spot, it shines.

What do I need to keep that shine on the fiberglass?????

Maybe I need to use a machine to remove the white pitting, then use a gloss wax???

Any ideas??

Go to any auto parts house and get a quart of 3-M Perfect-It II Rubbing Compound. They usually keep it behind the counter. Black and Red bottle. Follow the directions. If there's any finish left on the boat, the 3-M will bring it back. I've tried 'em all, and it is the best stuff out there, by far. Either rub it out by hand or buff it out with a good orbital buffer, then apply two coats of Mother's Carnuba Wax(the liquid in the red bottle) and see what you get. You probably need to wet sand the boat first with warm soapy water and 1000 grit paper, until it's smooth to the touch.
Kenny.

So, do I sand it first, then apply 3M Perfect Rubbing compound, then Mother's Carnuba Wax, in that order??

I have even tried using Protec NU-PAINT MOISTURIZER...That stuff looks good, when applied but then when it sits for a couple days, it too turns to white pitted dots...

So I will pick up some 1000 grit, silicon carbide sanding sheets and try and remove the white pits, before starting. Thanks

ANY other thoughts?

3M:
3M Perfect-It II Rubbing Compounds
Excellent for hand compounding applications. It safely and effectively removes grade 1200 or finer sand scratches, other fine scratches, medium oxidation, coarse swirl marks or water spots, and leaves a fine finish.

Have anyone ever tried:

3M Super Duty Rubbing Compound. Per 3M.
Suggested for heavy, aggressive compounding of oxidized gelcoat and marine paint. Clings to paint and gelcoated surfaces - remains wet on the job with little or no mess. Buffs to high gloss with minimum of swirl marks. Can be used by hand or machine.

Ranger R, yes, you want to wet sand first, then rub it out, then wax. I've restored several bass boats and I've tried everything on the market. The 3-M is the best on the market. Give me your email address and I'll send you some "before and after" pics of this '91 BassCat Sabre that I just redid the finish on and you can see first hand what the 3-M will do.

Ranger335 are you compounding the bottom and the metal flake?

Got1, most times the heavy oxidation is confined to the top cap and sides. You can rub out the bottom of the hull also, and it will improve the finish, but it's a lot of elbow grease involved. All the brand name boats have very thick gel coat and the oxidation will wet sand out without damaging anything. I re-did a 1986 Ranger that had sat uncovered for 12 years. I honestly thought it was beyond hope, but the finish came back to almost new. That white chalky oxidation is basically thousands of tiny little cracks in the very top of the gel-coat, caused by the sun. They prevent light from reflecting back, thus the dull appearance. Once you wet sand through it and rub it out, the finish will return.

Does anyone know how to get tire marks off a polypropolyne hull. It's a porta bote hull. Auto scratch remover just lightened them. I want get it to pretty white and throw on a some kind of wax or protectant. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
