Need some help on setting the float levels on my 1984 Evinrude 50 hp. Per my Seloc manual I have the Type IV carbs (carb numbers top, 394808; bottom, 394809 numbers taken from the carbs). Manual has a float setting range of 1 1/8 to 1 5/8 inches. I have been running them at 1 1/4 inches using the "old" gas. With ethanol in the mix now, should the float level be adjusted? If so, to what level?
Thanks for the help,
Mike

You should set the floats as the manual says to. The ethanol blended fuel is not going to have any effect on the float adjustments. The only way it would be effected is if you were running like pure methanol where your specific gravity of the fuel has changed. But again the ethanol blended fuels that we are seeing is not going to effect stock carb float adjustments.
