What's that funny looking reel?
It's upside down on the rod...

Wow, too funny…I sent these pix to Pack as a joke with a note that read….”On my way to 200k!” Jokes aside it was a pretty cool experience for me. As some of you know I have a HUGE PASSION for chasing these green fish, I have just have never fished tournaments. My job is very competitive and stressful and I fish to relax, not really to compete. This was my first one and it was a double…Day 1 on Welch - Where my partner and I took 3rd and Day 2 on Monty - Where I was fortunate enough to catch Big Bass {paper tourney - fish was 22 inches on paper weighed 6.43}. Yes it was on the “fairy wand” on a shaky head up around the bridge. To be honest, we were trying to catch a couple more swimmers to round out a limit and then go head hunting...I was kind of surprised when this one bit!

McKinney Bass Club is great group of guys and is very well run...I have been pushing back on 2manyrangers {Jim} for a couple of years now about joining…After this experience this weekend I am very grateful I finally took him up on it….I HAD A BLAST! I do have a new found respect for guys who try to do this for a living!

The highlight of the trip for me was Jim and I setting up on about a 5lb bed fish with 40 minutes left to go in the tournament…Jim was pitching a green jig and I was pitching a white one and we went at her back and forth until we realized she liked the white better than the green…With 25 minutes left to go she bit and I lost her at the boat! Jim being the good partner he is, set his rod down, swung the boat around, we gave the fish a few minutes to set back up and dropped the power poles…For those that have done this, or like me watched it on TV, the clock is ticking, you can see the fish, she’s catchable, but can you get it done in time!!!

With about 10 minutes left to fish she bit again and when she hit the net it was one of the coolest things I have experienced in bass fishing in long time!!!! I can see why some of the guys on the tour FREAK out when landing these last minute fish….You just never know if that’s the one that can win it for ya- WHAT A RUSH!!! Big thanks again to the McKinney Bass Club for welcoming me in and I look forward to the next event!

I just noticed this one and had to fire back to my buddy...Dont be knocking the fariy wand! LOL...Its like the golf club in your bag that has multiple uses...I dont play the game, but I think its called uni-club or fairway iron or something HECK I dont know! Somebody will chime in that knows.

Thanks everyone for the kind words!
