the pro-maxx and silver maxx's are great reels for the money, the black maxx is ok, i prefer the pro and silver maxx's to the black maxx.

Granted my revo's are better, but for the money the maxx series can't be beat

At $129 retail (u can find them a little cheaper) the Revo S is by far the most Bang for you Buck....

I completely disagree, for the basser on a budget they can get 2 slivermaxx reels for the price of one revo s, and i don't think there's a big enough difference in performance for the hobby fisherman to limit them selves in the amount of gear they can get over one reel.

For a pro, or someone not on as tight of a budget they are going to get better reels because they can

for someone with say 200 bucks to spend they can get teo complete set-ups vs one and be close enough in performance for it not to matter.

the silver maxx is a great performing reel for the value, ive never once been fishing with my silver max and said, man if only i had my revo premeir on this rod i would have caught more fish, instead of the rod combo i wasn't using at the time.

even my silvermaxx/all-star classic rod combo's are light years ahead of my old 6' pistol grip rods and 5500c combo's i used to fish tourneys with.

granted my premeirs,sx,stx reels are better, they aren't that much better that i would sacrifice having a complete outfit with enough rods and reels to cover my needs by having fewer more expensive set-ups.

I have custom rods and premeirs, and i have silver maxx's on cheapo all stars, i'm just as happy throwing those set-ups as i am my 600.00 ones..

no doubt, the silver max is prolly a good real, my point is that 129 isn't really breaking the bank. Considering every time we drive to the lake and take our boats out, we're easily spending $100 - $150.

And for my own piece of mind, it's worth the little extra money knowing i've got a reel that can be a work horse every time i go out. Bring in big fish with ease. And not to mention last forever if cared for properly.

Now, to the OP, if you've only got 200 to spend, then i TOTALLY agree with 905.0 Go get you 3 silver max combos, or 2 pro max combos and you'll be good to go.

I've had two Silver Max reels and my buddy has had 3-4. All of them have had problems. Most of them won't lock the spool after casting.

I'd get a Revo S or Orra before I wasted my money on any Max reel. If those are out of your price range, there are better non-Abu reels. Maybe the new versions are better.

$100-$150 every time you take the boat out??? What are you fishing from a Naval Frigate???
