Who should I call about maybe giving me a crash course in setting up and understanding my unit. Prefer someone around Fork, but not necessary. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I just got one four months ago. Pretty much ready to go out of box. Color preference is all I played with. BBC has an area for image interpretation or post a pic and there will ten expert opinions on what it is.

Best thing to do is go out WITHOUT a rod. Spend time looking and reading the unit and making adjustments to see what you like better. Don't take a rod as the temptation too fish is too great and you won't get the unit as tuned in as you would like.

Good advice right there. Explore the rip rap, coves, deep humps etc until u get a feel. As somebody else said, they're pretty good outta the box. Slow your graph speed to 2 or 3 and bump the sensitivity up to 12. I believe that's all I have done to mine and it looks great. I keep my color on Amber 2.

Take some screen shots and recordings then get another power cable and take it home, hook to a lawnmower battery and play through them adjsuting your settings. Amber 2, slow down chart speed, and reduce scan size to about 75 ( 1/2 of factory 150)

Look in Crappie section for Earnest Pady. He did a DVD that is truly outstanding.
