Definitely give JC Gwynne a shout. He's a member here by the name of The Amistad Man. You won't be disappointed.

is it possible for a guide to show you a couple spots and tell you how to fish it? i know guides dont want to give their spots away but i live almsot 3 hours away and i would be lucky to make it down there twice a year

Try: reservefishing.com or call 214-801-2611 and ask for Scott Gordon. Hope they can help you out.

every guide I have ever fished with except 1, took me to spots and told me why we were there and how to fish them along with suggested baits and presentations. I would also suggest you tell your guide ahead of time what your goal is for the trip....are you wanting to catch numbers and have action or are you after a giant. The answer can't be BOTH unless you want to break up the day and do one thing in the morning and the other in the afternoon. And if you say you want to chase a giant know that you are fishing for 1 or 2 bites but they could be the bite of a lifetime.

JC Gwyene is a good dude...Fouzman has probably fished with a guide out there, I would value his input.

Kurt Dove. Been out with him three times. Had some of the greatest trips to Amistad with him. He keeps up with the fish and their movements. Actually helped put me on the fish and their pattern to finally cash 1st after two years in my bass fishing club. Here is his website: You will have a great time and learn about the lake. Chase boat no problem.
